Science: What are stem cells?

Stem cells are basically a cell with no meaning.  They start out as an IMC cell and then go off into another kind of cell.  What makes a cell change into a certain cell are hormones that send a chemical message to your nervous system and tells the cell what sort of cell it shoud be, for example an IMC cell can be turned into a a skin cell,  then the skin cell would have a more specific role dealing with skin.  There are two places that stem cells come from either embryos and adult stem cells the embriotic stem cells are the most powerful becuase they can duplicate themselves and turn into any kind of cell in the body.  I learned a lt about stem cells and lots of other cells and things in the body
