Planaria

In 6th grade we started a project to learn about how stem cells can re-grow some animals bodies, like a lizards arm or a frogs leg.  So each of us had 3-5 planaria, planaria are like worms but like 5 times smaller, almost as big as the led of a pencil, and we would take care of them by feeding them and cleaning their water.  We had to cut our planaria so we could see how they could grow back.  We had three microscopes and we all had to right our own lab report on how our planaria are doing.  In the beginning we had to tell Carwai what we were going to do with our planaria in terms of cutting and how you plan to do it with a procedure.  We had about 2 weeks to research our planaria; they all stayed in a small Petri dish and were fed about 2 a week.  I really liked taking care of the planaria, because it was fun as well and educational.
